Slippin and slidin...

One of the fun things we have opted for this summer was the dollar pass to classic. We get to skate, water slide, bounce, play games, jungle gym and much more for just a buck each! The best part? All the friends who have gotten the passes with us - our newest recruit - Dad!
He took the afternoon off to come play on the water slides with us last week and we kept him plenty busy.
{I actually sat on the grass and enjoyed the sun for a minute or two!}
Waiting in line for the slide, yep, Paislee is as game as anyone! My kinda girl!

Pais loves hanging out with daddy!
See those clouds rolling in? They were heaven sent, 2 minutes of rain {who cares we were already wet} and basically cleared the place out. Yippee! No lines for us!
Here is Chad and Mike on their final {no kid} race...who do you think won?
Lots of fun, that's all!

Summer Update

*WARNING : super duper long post!

okay, I know, I have been a very bad blogger. I felt like a horrible mom for the first couple weeks of summer cuz we were always cleaning, or running errands or having nap time and my poor kids were deprived of just playing! The last couple weeks...not so much! We have been busy, busy, busy doing lots of fun stuff!

Here is an attempted update!
A big to do was our trip to Lagoon (courtesy of A Plus Benefits summer party) This was a first for our kids and Mike and I haven't been since before we were married so it was quite the surprise for all of us. The kids were completely mesmerized with all the rides and the fun things to do.

Adi's favorite ride was the shoot-you-up-and-drop-you ride (kids style). She also braved the white roller coaster with mom - and hated EVERY second of it.

Did I mention that Angie was nice enough to hang out with us? And besides the kids fighting NOT to ride with me (ang is much more fun) it was a blast to be able to go on a few adult rides!

Mike wowed us all with his attempt to make it up this ladder and win a stuffed{ugly} animal, bigger than all 3 of our kids. So close, so close!
In the end, after all the fun, we were all hot, exhausted and filthy! Here is a shot of Luke's toes to prove it!

The next day we were off for a weekend at the cabin! We had so much fun hanging out with Jake, Tanja (mike's sis) and their family! My highlight was the s'mores! But the late night talks of politics was a close second! ;)
Last week was full of birthday parties, swimming days (thanks Amie & Beth), cousins, and even a couple movies!

And as promised - the Lehi Roundup Rodeo!

This is a definite new family tradition (I would've gone all 3 nights) and except for the scary bleachers that we lost a couple flags, licorice and bottled water to - it was perfect!

Dad loved the clowns, Mom loved all the 8 second riders, Adi was mesmerized by the cowgirls who looked like princesses to boot, Luke informed us that he is going to be a motorcycle jumper when he grows up due to the half time(?) show that he loved and Paislee loved the treats and entertaining us with horse/cow noises. See ya there next year!

And that my friends is our last 2 weeks - in a nutshell!

boating 101

Today, we took the boat to Utah Lake. This is the 1st time this year. We have great hopes of being a BIG boating family this summer - as there are no other plans in the works. So, it makes sense that if today were to have a "theme" driving/teaching would have to be it! I can proudly say that I successfully loaded AND unloaded, docked, and drove the boat the full length of the lake and backed the boat trailer into the water. Chad also had a driving lesson and mastered pulling Mike on the knee-board/ski {something I still gotta learn}. Even Adi and Luke had their turn at the wheel!

The water is still a little cold but Mike braved it and broke out the trusty knee-board and even the slalom ski {I've never seen him ski and he got right up}

Check out my studly hubby on his first run!

*imagine awesome barrel roll video here*

Sorry for the "imagination", after 3 tries I give up - you win blogger!

No real action for the rest of us, just a quick dip for Chad and the kids but I thought this picture of them all drying off was cute to end with.

weekend movie review

I thought I would go ahead and give a quick review on our weekend {despite the next one being right around the corner, yay!} Mine was the best kind of all - filled with lots to do with family and friends!

It all started with scrapbook group...we forgoed the scrapbooking and opted for a girls night out. Dinner at Red Robin and then 2 movies. We saw 27 Dressed and Juno - both soooo good! I don't think I can remember ever pulling a double feature besides the drive-in's back in the days. These girls are so much fun and I laughed all night!
The next day was the monthly get-together with my "girls" from high school. We went out for pizza and bowling, we were all pretty pathetic at the bowling but it was fun to sit and talk.
That night we went to dinner with Mike's "pals" from high school. We were to {finally} meet Boley's fiance but due to a snow storm in Buffalo this has been postponed once again! But dinner still went on! And since none of the pals had experienced Smart Cookie we went there for dessert too. As is custom, the stories from their past started up and had us all laughing HARD! I now know that there is a east and west side of AF and that Sharalee should never allow Ben to drink{as in anything!} and go to the movies! ;) Unfortunately, all couples had to be home early due to babysitting issues, as for Mike and I, we had a babysitter and absolutely refuse to go home before the best part of getting a babysitter {bedtime} was accomplished so we went to one more movie! We saw National Treasure - fun but so unbelieveable!

Monday, Old Man Winter dumped like a foot of snow on us so we took full advantage and went sledding with our kids.
*little kids>parents = lots of work
We definitely got a work out carrying kids up the mountain and found we were all much happier when we opted for the even smaller hill.
Adi loved going by herself, Luke was only happy when someone was carrying him or sledding with him and Pais was a trooper, up for whatever and so cute all bundled up!

Have a way cool day!

Its about time!

We have been busy, busy, busy {as I am sure most of you have} trying to get all of our "Christmasy" stuff done and ready for the BIG day!

Just thought I would update you on a few...

  • The kids have been enjoying their advent gifts each morning - here is the fun Little People Nativity, I came down to find Adi sharing her breakfast with them!

  • Last Saturday we had a crazy morning, I baked 13+ DOZEN sugar cookies then we had 10 kids from our primary class over and they decorated every last one! It was soooo much fun - I was really impressed with the creativity that 10 year olds can have.

  • Then it was off to our annual "Girls Christmas Party". This was the 11th year for our get-together and we had lots of good food, great gifts and, of course, fun times! I feel so lucky to have such a good group of girlfriends!

  • Monday night we headed up to Temple Square for family night with the Pickle's. {After the catastrophe of trying to park} we enjoyed seeing all the lights and nativities. I can't believe that this was the first time we have ever gone as a family, we are gonna have to add this to our annual traditions list!

  • Adi had her Christmas performance on Wednesday! She did sooo good and made the CUTEST Rudolph ever! The highlight of it all was the visit from Hefa from High School Musical, did you know he has connections to Santa?

  • Today, there were a few more dozen cookies to be decorated - no pics though - the kids spent about 2 minutes at the table before they were through. Stephanie and I did most of them ourselves! {that was a 1st} Paislee was a big help though, she ate 3 on her own!

There! That's a pretty good update, albeit a little boring! But school's out and grandma comes tomorrow, YIPEE! The countdown is on!

Our Nativity Outing

We all got bundled up last night and headed to Hee Haw Farm. They had a really fun Nativity Hayride...we had stops for each part{shepherds, angels, wisemen, the king, the inn keeper}, they told their story and then we sang a song after each one and ended in the stable. It was fun to have the kids learn about this story in another way and see them understand it a little more.
This is Michelle, our wagon guide, Mike and I taught her for almost 2 years in Primary when we were very first married. It was so fun to see how grown up she is {she was 7&8 back then} and surprised that we still recognized her! That class still has a special place in our heart!
TTFN!
